The Bush Declaration Society of the
Children of the American Revolution organized on May 5, 2002 at the Hays House
in Bel Air, Harford County, Maryland, under the sponsorship of the Colonel
Aquila Hall Chapter, Maryland Society Sons of the American Revolution.
This society was named by Henry C. Peden, Jr. a noted Maryland Historian and
Genealogist. The organizing Senior President was Christopher T. Smithson,
a former member of the Colonel Thomas Hartley Society, Children of the American
Revolution in York, Pennsylvania.
The officers of the Bush Declaration
Societywho were sworn in by Jennifer Thorson, MDSCAR Senior Organizing Secretary
were: Dustin D. Carroll, President; Aaron W. Strong, Vice President; Tracy L.
Strong, Secretary and Dana E. Carroll, Registrar. The senior officer
selected were Christopher T. Smithson, Senior Society President; J. Andrew
Calwell, Senior Vice President; Henry C. Peden, Jr., Senior Secretary; David W.
Hoover, Senior Treasurer; John W. West, Senior Registrar. Also present
were Ann Leadbetter, Past MDSCAR State Senior President; Diana Snouffer,NSCAR
Senior Chaplain; Amelia Brose, MDSCAR Vice President.
Children of the American Revolution
is a patriotic organization in which members have fun while learning about their
American heritage. Any boy or girl under the age of
21 is eligible for membership if they are lineally descended from a man or woman
who, with unfailing loyalty, rendered material aid to
the cause of American Independence as a soldier, sailor, civil officer, or
recognized patriot in one of the several Colonies or
States, or of the United States.
