Using the Lathe
To use the lathe, create the outline of the object you want. Then, click
the Use Lathe Button. The black observation box on the left side of the
screen will show the picture that will be used by your Raytracer to create
your object. Do not be surprised if the shape seems dark and indistinct,
it will look different as an object! Now, select the Save Picture item
from the File menu. Note: Registered users are also able to save their
work in progress and come back to it later by using the Open and Save items.
After you have saved your picture, go into your Raytracer, and import the
picture to use it as a height map.
Lathe tip: Lathemaster saves the pictures it makes at whatever resolution
your computer is currently set at. If this resolution is low, then the
object you end up with will be less smooth, with a rougher experience.
If this happens, and you want a smoother object, there are two ways to
fix this:
1. Set your resolution higher, set your colors to 24 or 32 bit. (You
can do this in the Windows display settings)
2. Use the smoothing tool in your Raytracer.
