A wonderful 4 days were shared by all at the Summerduck, VA grounds, where there were Pointers in abundance, to compete for the title of National Champion!
In this keen competition of dogs competing in a Championship
Field Trial to find birds, the requirements for entry in the National Championship
stake and the Amateur National Championship stake is that the dog must
have competed in prior trials and placed in their respective stakes. This
means the dog has already proven itself a winner in competition and is
qualified to compete for this prestigious title. The National Championship
is held once a year, rotating to various parts of the United States and
is held under the auspices of The American Kennel Club.
For those of you who didn't have the opportunity to attend the event last week, you missed a wonderful time. We were lucky enough to have participants from all over the country and Mark & Sue Welch joined us from England, Sandy Gunn from Canada. The weather was unbelievable - not a cloud in the sky all week. The rolling hills and fall foliage made for a wonderful backdrop to the "stars of the show" - beautiful and talented Pointers, eager to run and hunt.

The mornings were frosty and cool, perfect for
any dog to find the ever-elusive little quail
...and, find
them they did!
