The old Barns.

A Bit Of History of Sorts

The Farm is currently made up of 40 acres in the Virginia Free State Valley situated on the back of Piney Mountain, 30 acres are in pasture and 10 wooded. Many of the old barns and out buildings were built in the early 1800's. One bank barn was constructed in the mid Seventies, as best we can tell. The Farm is located in the historic FreeState area of Fauquier County, which has a very large and colorful history, with significant Civil War connections.  Our house is built on the original foundation prior to the Civil War however, the house was burned when the northern soldiers found out the owner was riding with Col. Mosby. Although many of the tall tales in this area maybe just tall, but you never no, many fables are fact related with years of embellishment placed upon them...... So it looks better :)

This page is under construction and as time permits new fact and findings will be placed here -   However can't say when, but something I'd like to do after the ”have to do's” are done :)

HI - HO - HI - It's off to work we go!

Well it is a working farm.

Where work is never really done.

When you get to that last fence board, the first one you put up - - falls off. Your never finished mowing, weeding, fencing, feeding, healing, watering, or repairing.

Not on this farm anyway!

But this page is not about that stuff. We are a small family farm, and we enjoy the trials and tribulations and we enjoy watching our labors become fruitful.

arrowHorses - Training and preparing them for the foxhunting and cross country events.

arrowColored Angora Goats - Beautiful light gray and black gray fleece.

arrowAngora Goats - Lots of luscious, silky, fine white fleece

arrowCashmere - We have acquired several new goats which we are going to breed to both our beautiful white and gray Angora billies to produce cashgora.

arrowSheep - Ramboulette and Merino - Moorit, Black, and Gray fleeces.   The Cormo breed with beautiful white fleece which is covered.  Most of our sheep have their fleece covered.  The CVM Sheep are Multi-Color “California Variegated Mutant”  this breed also carries a very fine fleece.

arrowZebu - Just have begun working with miniature cattle; the little guys make great estate pets.  Very hardy and low maintenance.
